The infrastructure firm aims to utilize Vestberg’s network experience to deploy 1.5 gigawatts of potential power capacity for data centers.
Digi Power X Inc. has appointed Hans Vestberg, former CEO of Verizon and Ericsson, as a senior advisor to help navigate the power and cooling challenges limiting the adoption of artificial intelligence. The company stated that Vestberg will support the deployment of its AI-Ready Modular Solution (ARMS) platform.
As AI workloads migrate from centralized facilities to distributed locations, power availability has become a primary constraint for the sector. Digipower X currently operates a combined-cycle power plant with over 200 megawatts online and has secured development capacity for an additional 1.5 gigawatts, including a potential 1.3-gigawatt site in West Virginia.
Vestberg highlighted the shift from data transmission to data processing infrastructure as a key industry driver.
“I’ve spent over 30 years building the networks that move data. The next decade is about building the infrastructure that processes it. Digipower X is more than just a data center company. It controls its power, is developing the ability to deploy Tier-3 infrastructure in the near term, and is building a modular platform to address the exact constraints holding back large-scale AI deployment.”
The company plans to deliver modular data centers within approximately 180 days of order. Vestberg’s advisory role will cover power optimization, international site prioritization, and mission-critical reliability standards required for enterprise-grade AI operations.
